Sony and Samsung have been known to launch similar televisions since long. In times of High Definition television, both have come up with winners in the 52 Inch bracket. This competition bears good tidings for the viewers.
They both start with the same resolution of 1920X1080. These are lots of pixels and ensure clarity per dots. Their image aspect ratio is also identical at 16:9. This guarantees a clear and big picture of things being shown on TV.
While Sony Bravia uses a separate technology called Motionflow to dish out fast pictures, Samsung does one better. At 4 ms, you cannot ask for more. This assures that there is no time lag between actions in fast scenes.
Where Sony scores over Samsung is with DmeX technology. Often crease lines emerge on LCDs when graphics change. This technology puts a stop to that.
Both have 4 HDMI inputs and almost similar weight. The Samsung version gives slightly better angle viewing than the Sony version.
Dynamic contrast ratio is the feature, which makes the difference clear between shades of a particular color. Though it is announced in Samsung at 50,000, the blue tint (Touch of Color) is not that marked. It is still to be defined in Sony. But with strong contrast enhancer, Sony seems to fare better.
It is the same with Sound absorption technology. Sony has dynamic adjustors to keep the sound well controlled. The bass and woofer are however not up to the mark. Speakers are ordinary. Yet the sound mechanism is better than Samsung version.
Both are theater group TVs and are Blu-rays enabled. In both the TVs however, projection of channels that are not HD-updated leave a lot to be desired.
Between the two similar televisions, Sony Bravia KDL 52W4100 seems to have a slight edge over Samsung LN52A860. Samsung TV has got its price recently discounted by $400.
