Television technology constantly changes. Every year we see new models, with a whole set of new features. A big reason why you may want to consider buying a HDTV set, is that all technology is becoming digital.
In a few years conventional televisions will be a thing of the past. For example in the UK, there are laws which will stop analogue services running in a few years time. This likely will happen in other countries.
This can be a great problem, especially for people who go and buy a new television without high definition technology. If you buy a HDTV set, you will have the benefit of not having a reasonably new TV that has become obsolete.
