In all of humanity, we have ever strived to increase technology. This is same as the resolution of televisions, and today, the resolution of HD TV sets. The television has gone through a lot of improvements, and in the last 50 years, we have gone from having HDTV sets in black and white, only available in few homes, to today where we have everyone owning a television set, and even a HDTV set. The improvements have mainly been to the HD TV resolution.

A way to categorize the different time frames would be to describe the various times that corresponded with significant elements from humanities time on Earth. We can look at humanity as a whole and class humanity in certain ages. These ages could be the thought of as Stone Age, Bronze Age, the Industrial Revolution or could include the technological age.
One of the inventions, during the technology age, was the television.  And even within this age there have been further modifications that have taken place due to the specific advancement of technology.  This is witnessed as the television has evolved from black-and-white to color to high-definition.

When it comes to high definition TV it is important to understand the terminology affiliated with HDTV.  One specific term is HDTV resolution.  What HD TV resolution is and the fact that the signal received must match the HD TV resolution are important factors to understand.

::: HDTV Resolution :::
HD TV resolution is technology that allows for the quality of television viewing to be significantly enhanced.  This performance enhancement is due to the fact that the resolution capacity of a high definition television has been increased dramatically.

Specifically, resolution is the number of lines that can be displayed on a television set.  These lines of resolution extend across a television’s screen in a horizontal and vertical manner.

In addition, these lines of resolution are comprised of pixels.  A pixel is the smallest unit of measurement that helps to portray a digitalized image.  Therefore, the greater the number of pixels equates into a higher resolution which in turn provides a highly defined image. To put the issue of HDTV resolution into perspective, the resolution of HD TV can display 10 times as many pixels as an ordinary television set.

::: Additional Considerations with HDTV resolution :::

In order to maximize your HDTV resolution it is important to remember that the image of your high definition television can only display or match the incoming source.  In other words, if the provider of your television signal is offering service that is not of HDTV resolution quality, that is the image that will be displayed on the HD TV.  This is due to the fact that the television signal which is feeding into the HDTV will remain what it is despite the capability of the high definition television.

The marked improvements of television have been in the form of improving the resolution of the television set. These improvements to television have culminated in the form of higher HDTV resolutions. With these HDTV resolution improvements as much as 10 times more than conventional television sets, you can be sure that buying a Sony HD TV set, will bring you breathtaking images, and provide you a memorable time watching movies.
